Series You Could be Binge-Watching Today

Thursday, March 02, 2017

This year southern California decided to give winter a try. Not real winter as compared to other places of course, but we have gotten way more rain than any of us are used to which has meant a lot more time spent indoors.

In general, March is supposed to be the rainiest month for us and if this proves to be true then you won't find me unprepared. In case you've still got a good amount of winter to come, and I really hope that you don't, then I've got you covered with a list of the shows you could be binge-watching today.

The Killing (Netflix). Very dark and a lot twisty. This is a Netflix original that follows a detective who get's too emotionally involved in the murder case of a teenage girl. I got sucked in and watched the whole first season in a day. This is not a show that you'll walk away from feeling happy and light, it's more one that makes you question if you even enjoyed yourself at all while you were watching it. But if thrillers are your thing, this one is for you.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (Netflix). Did you read these books as a kid? I absolutely did, and I couldn't have been more excited to see a Netflix reboot of the stories I loved so much. The only thing I didn't love about it was that the series followed the books almost identically. I did however love watching Neil Patrick Harris in his many roles and overall it was enjoyable.

Big Little Lies (HBO). I haven't read the book, and I haven't watched the show yet. I know what you're thinking, then who am I to suggest this to you? I've heard nothing but good things about Liane Moriarty and all of her work and I plan on beginning it right away. If you beat me to it, tell me how it is.

Parenthood (Netflix). There really isn't much I can say about this show other then go watch it right now. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll feel connected to the Braverman family in ways you didn't even know were possible for television characters. It's just so good.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (Netflix). This is the reboot of the Gilmore Girl's series (and if you haven't watched that then please, stop everything else and spend all day in bed with your new favorite mother/daughter duo). I had mixed feelings about the reunion series. It was nice to have a conclusion to the end of the last season, which was left a little up in the air. But at the same time it felt slightly rushed and a little uncomfortable at times. I don't think we've seen the end of the Gilmore Girl's just yet.

Frankie and Grace (Netflix). This show follows two iconic women, Frankie and Grace (Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin) who become friends after their husbands announce that they've been in a relationship together for years and plan to leave their wives to get married. Frankie and Grace couldn't be more opposite, but they bond over their solidarity and it all happens in the funniest way.

Sex and the City (HBO). Always a classic, always good for girls night binging. Plus, if you're left wanting more, there's even two movies you can watch afterwards. I'm a Charlotte who wishes I was a Carrie, who's your Sex and the City spirit animal?

Hart of Dixie (Netflix). A New York City doctor relocates to small town Blue Bell, Alabama and out of this comes one of the most adorable, heartwarming shows that you won't be able to stop watching.

This is Us (Hulu). Another show I haven't yet watched but plan to start this weekend. If it's as good as everyone says it is I probably won't get anything else done, and I'm okay with that.

Stranger Things (Netflix). I absolutely did not expect to like this show, like at all. Sci-fi has never really been my thing and I went into watching this show with some hesitation. However, I was completely surprised. I enjoyed the characters, I was left wondering what was going to happen and now I have to wait until October for the next season which I'm bummed out about. I think it'll be worth the wait.

What shows have you been watching?
