Add it to my List Link Up: Pregnancy Edition

Tuesday, January 31, 2017

Today I'm linking up with Lauren and Bre to share a few things that I'm loving lately, specifically some pregnancy stuff that's been working for me.

I'm just a couple of weeks away from being in my third trimester. Woah.  And I've of course had some things that I've been loving more than other things.

Overall, it's been a relatively smooth pregnancy and the biggest adjustment I've had to make has been in my clothing. I'm still not used to only being able to fit into maternity pants, but if that's my biggest struggle then I feel luckier than ever.

Here are a few things on my must have list so far!

ASOS Maternity Double Layer Maxi Dress - Love, love, love this dress. Seriously it is the first thing on my list because I wish it came in all colors of the rainbow. I would buy it in every single one. It's comfortable, full coverage, and doubles as a nursing dress which means I'll be able to wear it long after our baby girl arrives. My only complaint is that it is NOT meant for short people! And i'll probably end up getting it hemmed. Another bonus is that it's only $26 dollars (with free shipping!) Total steal.

Tubby Todd Mama Bundle - Specifically the citrus avocado belly balm from this bundle. The other stuff is a little more suited for after baby arrives so I'll write more about it later but this belly balm is seriously amazing! It smells SO GOOD. I don't have any stretch marks yet but I'm all about preventative care and this stuff has been great.

Crane Drop Humidifier - I've basically had a stuffy nose for the past 6 and a half months since I found out I was pregnant. A humidifier has been a life saver and this has been one of the best ones I've been able to find.

Ovia Pregnancy App - This app is so much fun. I check it every day for little updates on miss Kensington Grace. It tracks her size, average weight each week, and all of my symptoms. It also has tons of articles including recipes and pregnancy myths. I highly recommend using this app through your entire pregnancy.

BeMaternity Black Yoga Leggings - Everyone and I mean everyone told me that the Old Navy maternity leggings were the best ones to get. As soon as I started getting any shape in my belly I went and picked up a pair and I didn't like them whatsoever. The material felt cheap and they stretched out so quickly. These BeMaternity leggings from Target have been my favorite maternity leggings so far. They're form fitting enough while still being comfortable. They also have a stretchy belly band that holds everything in and overall they're my favorite ones.

Shutterfly - I've started a scrapbook for the baby already because I definitely don't want it to be a last thought and try and throw everything together at a later date. I've been using Shutterfly to print out all of my photos. All of the 4x4 and 4x6 prints are free (except for a small shipping charge) and their other prints are relatively cheap as well. The colors in the prints are so beautiful and they ship quickly. It makes it so easy to stay on track with her baby book.

What are some of your favorite things recently?

2017 Reading Challenge

Monday, January 30, 2017

This weekend I was strolling through a local used book store searching for books for little's library. This has become a hobby of mine since finding out I was pregnant as I try to track down as many books as I can from my own childhood.

When we were at the checkout counter I came across a pamphlet for a reading challenge. The categories caught my eye right away. They were a little different than the ones I've seen on other challenges like this, and since I've been spending a lot more of my weekend time lounging on the couch these days I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to knock a few books off my reading list before baby gets here.

Here are the categories for the challenge and the books I've chosen to read for each...

That you can read in one day // Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham.
That was published the year you were born // Along Came a Spider by James Patterson.
In which the protagonist is an animal // The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo.
With the name of a color in the title // A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler.
That takes place on an island // The Search by Nora Roberts.
That was banned at some point // Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
That everyone said is "so much better than the movie" // The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
A random stranger suggested to you // The Girl Before by J.P. Delaney.
That you weaseled out of reading in high school // Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
That you think you will hate // Wild by Cheryl Strayed.
That you think you will love // The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler.
That you have already read and loved // Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.

I hope you'll join along! What are some of the books you'd read for each category?

More or Less: 2017

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

I've never been good at resolutions. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about writing down my goals as little reminders of the things I'd like to accomplish, and I love the idea of a fresh start at the beginning of the new year.

But more than likely you won't find me with a typical resolution list, as I feel like I'm often left feeling discouraged at the end of a long year if I haven't completed the things I put on my initial list. I find it easier to focus on the things that I want more of in my life, and in opposition, the things I'd like to do less of.

2017 is going to be a whirlwind of a year and my more or less list looks a little different then it may have in the past. So here are some things I want more and less of in my upcoming year.

More tea...Less coffee (HA! except when baby comes in a couple months then all bets are off.)

More making time for the people that truly care about me and my family...less wasting energy on those that simply pretend to.

More yoga...Less stress.

More picture taking...Less social media.

More books, music, art, culture...Less TV.

More adventures.

More dating my husband.

More prepping for baby's arrival.

More naps while I've still got the time.

Less worrying about things that are out of my control.

Less wondering what this little babe of ours will look like (we're just 15 weeks away from holding her in our arms).

Less saying yes to things I don't really want to do.

What are you striving for more and less of in 2017?

Won't You Take Me Back?

Monday, January 23, 2017

Excuse me for a second while I wipe off the dust from my little corner of the internet. I know it's technically still winter, but I think we're already due for some Spring cleaning around here.

The last time I posted on this blog was October of last year. In all fairness I was just about two months pregnant and exhausted practically all the time. With the little energy I did have I just couldn't justify putting any work into this blog. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't always pulling me back in just a little bit. I continued to follow along with my favorite bloggers and now that I feel recovered from the end of the year rush, I think it's as good a time as any to get back to it.

So won't you take me back? I sure hope so, I've missed you.

Let's start with a little update just to fill you all in on the happenings of the past four months or so. First of all, if you follow me on any social media, you may have seen that Daniel and I found out we are expecting a little girl in May.

We've decided to name her Kensington Grace. At a little over six months pregnant I'm feeling great. I've been blessed with the most wonderfully smooth pregnancy, knock on all the wood. Her nursery is about 90% complete and we truly cannot wait to be parents.

The weirdest part about pregnancy for me so far has been how easily I've been putting on weight. Does that sound strange? I honestly thought I would struggle with the weight gaining but I'm up almost 20 pounds from when we started and more times then not you can find me cuddled up on the couch eating all the snacks.

I plan to continue working right on up to her arrival, and afterwards as well. We are lucky to have my family so close, and that they're willing to do pretty much anything to spend time with her including staying with her while Daniel and I are working. He's been busy going to school, working as an EMT, and applying to local fire departments. Not to mention, being the cutest ever about our sweet tiny girl on the way. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing partner in this adventure.

Our past few months have been filled with holiday shenanigans, lots of family time, TONS of eating and a whole bunch of rainy days (go home, Los Angeles, you're drunk). I've gotten pretty much all of my energy back after my first trimester, although with the third sneaking up on me rather quickly I am predicting a lot of naps in my future.

I hope I can continue sharing here with all of you as I head into this next scary, wonderful stage of our lives. I promise to try to be better about posting, but only time will truly tell.

Happy Monday, friends. I hope it's filled with strong coffee and cat videos.
