Hello August: Goals

Although the weather may not agree, in my mind August is the beginning of the transition from Summer to Fall. It's the end of summer nights, and the beginning of early mornings preparing for long days of classes. It's my favorite transition between seasons because the beginning of Fall is the beginning of everything I love. I'm a big believer in goal setting. I think it's important to have a clear view of what you want to accomplish, even if nothing necessarily comes of them right away. Here are some goals I have for the month of August.

- Focus on the good. This is so important for this month because Daniel and I will be transitioning back into our long distance relationship status. I really need to make the attempt to focus on the fact that despite our distance, we're incredibly luck to have one another and there is so much good in our lives that we should be thankful for every day.

- Be money smart. I mentioned before that Daniel and I are working towards paying off a very large amount of money by the end of the year. I want to continue budgeting and keeping track of our progress so we can reach our goal! Obviously things will come up, especially with school beginning again and the cost of textbooks going through the roof. But as long as we keep a plan I am confident we can make it happen.

- Start the semester off right. This is a goal for the end of the month because my semester doesn't start till the 24th, but I hope to start strong so I can have a good jumping off point that will continue through to the end of the semester.

- Find the causes of stress in my life and eliminate them. This one is so important. I've come to find out that the neck pain I experience daily is due to the vertebrae in my neck being rotated severely. Unfortunately the cause of this could be anything, but a major factor is stress. The way I see it, if I can eliminate the stress, I can eliminate the pain. I'm working on changing the small things in my life that I have control over in order to help me relieve some stress so I can feel better overall.

- Spend time with the people I love. I have missed my family like crazy since I left to spend the Summer in North Carolina. I can't wait to get home on the fifteenth and remind everyone just how much I love them and how thankful I am to have them all in my life.

- Eat more Ben & Jerry's. Okay, that ones not really a goal for the month...just a personal preference, especially after giving this milk and cookies flavor a try over the weekend! ;)

    I also am trying to focus on being more money smart. I created a budget a few months ago and I have blown it almost every month. It's hard to stay in budget when there are soo many summer activities going on that require money (like buying tickets to a festival).

  2. I have been doing my best to get rid of stress in my life and it can be hard sometimes. Good luck with your goals!
